Maybe you have the Wi-Fi version but I remember the review of the iPad 3 having hotspot running times that were outright comical. Obviously a much smaller battery here but still...potential?
Taking a stop back, I can appreciate the urge to travel light. Had a little bit of fun gloating (dorkily) about all my devices using microUSB - Nokia Windows Phone, Kindle, Blackberry. Naturally this was to a new iPad owner dealing with the fun of Lightning (I also own an iPad but find it increasingly unnecessary).
I'm too poor/cheap for the cellular iPads. Mine is WiFi only, at some point in the future I'll consider moving to a 4G one. Perhaps the next iPad mini I'll go for VZW LTE or something. I hate the idea of paying another data plan though.
Yeah, having posted this, I think you should do a very short follow up after the dust has settled saying whether the Clovertrail would have been enough on its own etc.
I too would be interested to see how it fairs and if it could be used as a 'workhorse' notebook or if it lacks some how.
These personal posts are a pretty good idea! They help us get to know the editors a bit better and help build a "brand loyalty" of sorts to Anandtech, I think :) Kinda like the podcast.

Will make for a nice real world test of W8/Clovertrail.I'm sure someone will be pointing & laughing @ someone by the end of the week, if any of you still have the energy and not too ill by then.
