We've been running our public performance database tool, Bench, for a few years now. Bench allows you to have direct access to the performance data we use in our reviews, segmented according to product category. Today we have five major product categories in Bench: CPU, GPU, Smartphone, Mobile and SSDs.

CPU Bench is the longest running without significant changes. You can actually compare Intel's most recently released Sandy Bridge E CPU to an old Core 2 Duo E6550 from four years ago in a number of tests using the tool

GPU Bench has always posed a more significant challenge. Drivers and test platforms change very frequently, which often precludes us from keeping a running tally of benchmarks similar to what we do on the CPU side. We used our Radeon HD 7970 review as the kicking off point for our brand new PCIe 3.0 testbed for GPUs going forward - a platform we hope to keep in place for at least the next 12 months. While all of this data is already in the 7970 review, if you want to do any head to head comparisons between GPUs you can now do so using our updated GPU Bench 2012 database. The previous version of the database (GPU Bench 2011) is still available.

Similarly, we've finally updated our Smartphone Bench database. Smartphone Bench 2011 features all of the tests and test data we've been using in our most recent smartphone reviews (e.g. Droid RAZR). We opted against calling it Smartphone Bench 2012 because we plan on updating some of the benchmarks in the new year (e.g. you may have seen one of our new battery life tests in our Eee Pad Transformer Prime Follow-up).

We are in the preliminary stages of planning AnandTech's site refresh for 2012, including updates to Bench. If you have any suggestions you'd like to see implemented, please feel free to leave them as comments here. We already have a number of ideas of things we're trying to implement, but your opinions are the most important here so I'm always eager to listen if you're willing to share.

    1) 2011 and 2012 can't be directly compared, hence the reason for the separate sections. We replaced a 3.3GHz Nehalem with a 4.3GHz SNB-E; it's a huge platform difference. The good news is that we'll be adding a number of video cards (including most of the cards that were in 2011), so you can still see how the cards perform on our current benchmark suite.

    2) We'd never put a manually OC'd model in (because that's not representative of a retail product), but a factory overclocked model is an option. The jury is still out on putting in non-reference cards since there are already so many cards in there just from reference.

Thanks for this tool Anandtech, I use it a lot before I buy something or suggest something to someone else. :)

The results posted in Bench make me a bit sad.

I've had my Samsung Captivate for a little over a year (...after waiting six months for it to become available in my market). The Fascinate has the same CPU and it's in the Bench database. The Galaxy Nexus is **three to six times faster** than my phone on a CPU basis.

On the other hand, damn, that is some good progress... my next phone should be, uh, slightly faster.

I am not sure how minority the multimonotor testing is, but some bechmarkd would be nice to see allso in multi monitor testing. hose cheaper HD monitors are so cheap that it could be interesting to see allso those multimonitor test. Maybe not with all those games and other test, but some of them would be nice to see. Do I need sli or cf or is single card enough?

Allso any pure DX11 game would be nice, but there seems to be one around at this moment.

Multi-monitor results will be added as we continue building up the DB.

As for pure DX11 games, short of 3DMark'11, I'm not sure what you're referring to.

So I noticed that you have reviewed the Samsung 830 SSD (256GB), but it does not appear in the bench? Not sure if this was an oversight, or intentionally.

Wherever applicable (mainly GPU bench) specify what specific drivers used, CPU + clock speed, amount of system RAM, and hard drive.

Date tested would be good too.

    BF3 bench also!

The metadata isn't in right now., but all of that will be added in the coming weeks. We'll have the same type of metadata available as was in 2011.

Think you could fill out the cpu bench with more bulldozer chips? Been waiting on that for a wee bit here.

I don't see 6850 and 6870 available for selection. I want to see how faster they are when compared to the older card like the 4870.
